Rape a Boy, Get a Wink from the Pentagon

Culture ends, where criminal behavior begins.

Afghan’s Rape of Little Boys

The British showed more humanity and common sense. There is a famous story about Sir Charles James Napier when he served as the Governor of Sindh. Hindu priests reacted to the British prohibition of Sati. This was part of their custom. This was part of the “culture”.  His response was pithy and blunt:

“Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.”

Because of British humanity, British goodness, the nation of India no longer has to deal with the crime of Sati.

Compassionate Morality

If we believe that morality is cultural then should any Afghan rape a small American boy on U.S. soil we should

turn a blind eye.  No charges should be pressed. The Afghan man’s sexual assault of a child is not a criminal act.

Rape is a criminal act. Period.

Can we say that our culture is superior and  what are the benchmarks for our civilizational superiority?

Thank God for Sir Charles James Napier.  Should he have served as Commander of U.S. and Joint Forces in Afghanistan he might have had this to say about child rape:

“Be it so. This raping of little boys is your custom; expose your genitals. But my nation also has a custom. When men rape little boys we hang them and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the boy is raped. Let us all act according to national custom.”

We have no such breed in the Pentagon.
