The Judeo Christian tradition teaches virtue as thus:
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8
Let’s take a moment and examine Jihad as “virtue” within Islamic ideology.
“Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties (in exchange) for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed….” Al Tawba 111
*Let three little words roll around in your mind: So They Kill….So they kill…. In New York, in Boston…. and now, in Orlando.
Abdullah bin Salaam said we were with a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah and we said if we just knew what was the most beloved deed to Allah. Allah then revealed: Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allah, and he is the Exalted in might….indeed Allah loves those who fight in His cause in a row as though they are a single structure joined firmly” (Multiple sources)
Allah has preferred the mujahideen over those who remain behind with a great reward. Al-Nisa 95, 96
Muadh bin Jabal narrates, “We were with the Messenger of Allah returning from Tabook. He told me, ‘If you want I can tell you the head of the matter, its pillar and its peak.’ I said yes Oh Messenger of Allah, and he said ‘The head of the matter is Islam, its pillar is Salah, and its peak is jihad.'” (Multiple sources: al-Tirmithi, ibn Majah, al Hakim, Ahmad)
Islam teaches an anti-atonement ideology. In Christianity, the blood of Christ suffices for the sins of all mankind. In Islam, Paradise can be achieved by striking “a bargain” with Allah for your own soul. That bargain includes killing others to achieve Paradise. The martyr is on a direct trajectory to Paradise and the infidels he kills are on a direct trajectory to Hell.
Omar Mateen believed that his act of carnage rocketed him straight to Paradise.
Islam teaches physical jihad as virtue. Lest you are not yet convinced let me leave you with one thought:
The Messenger of Allah said, “Whoever fights in the cause of Allah the time it takes to milk a camel is granted Paradise.” (Multiple sources)
It takes approximately ninety seconds to milk a camel. How many people died at the Pulse Club in Orlando in the first ninety seconds of gunfire?
Thus ends today’s lesson on Jihad.
