The battles of Prophet Muhammad are contained within various collections and volumes in some of the finest libraries. Istanbul comes readily to mind.
While the Battle of Badr signaled the rise of Islamic power it was another battle which exhausted the military capabilities, primitive arsenals and will to fight of the Unbelievers.
This was also the battle in which a doctrine of a just killing allowed for collecting plunder from a corpse. The plunder from the individual corpse does not fall within the legal scope like “spoils of war” which is subject to divisibility into five portions. The plunder belonged to the individual warrior.
